Bar oil usage

I had a nearly new stihl bar lock up on me recently and it got me to wondering. I have never adjusted the oiler on my MS290. How much oil should I be going through in a tank of gas? Im wondering if Im not feeding the chain/bar enough oil?

Turn the adjuster screw to the max; fuel and bar oil should run out at about the same time

That may be part of my problem then. They never run out at the same time. Id guess probably a 2:1 ratio of gasil. thanks for the help!

Yup, the gas and oil should run out at the same time.

On all of my saws the gas runs out first and there is just a tiny bit of oil left in the oil tank. Real close to 1:1 ratio.

Not on the newer Stihl saws... turn it to max and you'll get just over a half a tank of bar oil used for each tank of fuel.

My Stihls are much more stingy with oil than the Huskys. Stihl oilers always at max.
