Cut up some dead hardwood with the 440 today. Not sure what kind of trees. I was wondering what chain is best for dead/dry hardwood? The 440 has a 20" bar and stock 7 pin sprocket for now. I'm using RSC chain now and wonder if there is something better for dead trees.

Rapid Micro (RM)

if you're having trouble keeping an edge on RSC in your dry dead wood, try a loop of RM... it is semi-chisel compared to RSC which is full chisel... it wont cut as fast in optimum conditions, but will hold an edge better in real hard, dirty wood

I'll have to see if I can find some of the RM and give it a shot. I love the RSC chain but it doesn't seem to last in the dead stuff.

:agree2: - but if the wood is clean, the RSC should do it well.......
