It seems big bore bolt on kits are in vogue these days, but the only one we have seen so far is the 046 BB kit. The 372 BB is advertised by Baileys and it seems a 99cc jug is in the wings for the 066 or the 650.

Anyway, if we can make a 100cc saw out of a Stihl, why can't we make a 100 cc 385?
Talk about a plethora of cheater saws.
Even though I like Husky, is the 385 tough enough to handle a bolt on 100cc jug? I would think the 066/650 is the tougher of the two saws.

Just because Stihls are built like a brick sh!t outhouse, doesn't mean we can't favour the lean and mean Husqvarna.

John,
if they had problems with the 385 bottom end before, I wonder to what level the beefed it up to? Is the new 390 a bored over 385? some saws probably won't do to well going very much larger because of how much fuel can fit in the crankcase but maybe the larger bore counteracts that because there is also more area below the piston as well?

Besides who needs a big bore kit to make a cheater saw when you can stroke it instead? Of course I guess you could get even more out of a saw if you went with a larger bore and stroked it. anyone should be able win the race then.

No I never saw that saw, it wasn't on the scene for long for whatever reason.
Buttfutter, it seems we are in the realm of pushing 2 cycle to the limit before they are overtaken by 4 cycle, but is 2 cycle old school?

Andy, Why are you trying to blow my cover? Lol Are you an agitator?

Agitator? I did get accused (by a mod who dinged my rep big time) of being a trouble maker, but not an agitator :ices_rofl:

Hold on the with the smiley...

It would be cool.. bore out a few mm, new chrome (who cares about price on a hot saw anyhow), a little machining on a similar piston, and 3hp+ But it would look stock apart from the big fan on the side to keep it cool.
Oh, yes, gut the muffler.:rockn: :rockn:

So it sounds like the 660 BB kits are going to fit the 650 and 066 then? I know the 066, but didnt know if the 650 would.
I know you took your 650 in on trade gypo, but it sure seems like if someone was buying new, why not pay the extra $110 bucks and get the 660 off the bat.
MS650 MAGNUM 5.20 cu. in. - 84.9cc 20" - 6.4 hp(16-36") $889.95 w/solid bar
MS660 MAGNUM 5.59 cu. in. - 91.6cc 24" - 7.0 hp(16-36") $999.95 w/solid bar

Thank you no, I wont argue about the money thing for sure!!! I have settled with the 046BB, if I can't take it down with that saw, I don't think I really ought to be trying!!! It will run that 32 like nothing, and I could, if something stupid came over me, probably run a 42 skip on it, put I am uneasy with the 32, so I think I am going to be happy to call that my "big saw".

I just posted the prices in a thread stihl prices for all the saws.

I think the 650 is ahead of it's time. With my limited knowledge of port timing, I see that the 650 is well advanced and not just some intermediate saw.
