I have a 046 vintage 2002-2004 I think it has 8 tooth

I'm a homeowner it occasionally gets out and rips some wood up

Does anyone know if there are 9 or 10 tooth drives for it ?

Just for screwing around with chain speed

It's bone stock right now, but I'm goin to order the dual port for it

Thanks in advance

how long of a bar are ya' runnin', kinda chain? I wouldn't go over 8t with a 20'' bar. IMHO.

18 80% of the time but do have a 24

Run full chisel stihl chain, freaking joke now when I bought last loop the guy had to run thru a checklist informing me the chain was very aggressive and prone to kickback

And I also plan on a woods port or maybe a touch milder of a port job at some point

Think This Over

Yes, such things exist but you need more power than your 046 has to make them useful.
Agreed. Stick with the 8-tooth rim for an 046. Shucks, many run 7-tooth rims.

I used to run 7-tooth rims on my 361 but found out that some 20" chains would stretch beyond the tension adjusting limit. So, I went up to an 8-tooth rim. Running larger rims does not guarantee faster cutting, and occasionally the larger rim will make it tougher to install a new chain that has yet to stretch.

Thanks gentlemen

I know that with an 18" bar and full chisel, it cuts FAST fully buried in ash

Just love my 046, but I think a dual port should waken it up some
