Broken Soapstone Inside My Insert Stove

i have a broken piece of soapstone inside my Hearthstone insert can it be fixed, they want an arm and a leg for a new piece

Are you sure it isn't just fire brick on the inside? Soapstone is for looks and heat retention on the outside.

Hearthstone uses soap stone inside the firebox.

Refractory cement,,Lowes and places like that have it by the bucket or tube...it could what you're after...?

You should try to bed it in. Might save you a next time.

Not familiar with the term bed it in? It cracked when I was putting it against the wall of the stove.

Oh, figured you dropped a log on it. Bedding is slathering everything that touches the supports or nearly touches it and letting the cement dry with brick in place. Eliminates spots that don't touch the supports. Just like a gun barrel.
