Tree was brutally attacked by a buck this winter. Tree was repaired; however, once the wrap was removed i became concerned about the color. I am hoping it is not a mold or something similar. I attached some photos of what it currently looks like. Any advice?

Why that mean old long tined galuth , I'll come set him straight next fall :) It looks like it is compartmentalizing the color appears normal to post wounding to me. What concerns me most is your mulch against the bark it needs to start 10" from the bark and extend to the dripline. Done right it encourages roots to grow away from the trunk rather than encircle it!

Deal! Appreciate your reply, glad it is looking normal. I will be keeping a close eye on it. Great advice on the mulch :numberone:, I have since removed the mutch and put in better landscaping around the perimeter.

Thank you again.
