Mitch, did you ever think about getting bearings that have a metal cage? Do they even make them? I would think a bearing place would have them.
They are an OE spec. No bearing house has them.

To make it even slicker to use and quicker mount a bar and lock it bench vise, cuts your time by more than half.
Take an engraver and make what model saw its for, once you have a bunch of them they all start looking the same, then you play the lets see if its this one game. My two year old son got into my tool chest at work and decided anything and everything in a box in my puller/assembly drawer should be de-boxed into one big box!
The question if the 555 coil really does the xp engine real justise still remains, as I see it - have you looked any further into that? :msp_confused:
If so, why are the part numbers different?
Another question is how to get the AutoTune software for the xp engine installed, are there no restrictions regarding that?

Rev boost? I can't tell. If there is a difference in power, it would take meticulous timed cuts.
No restrictions to change the software. In fact, when they sent a replacement, there is none installed. Tech also has to add the serial to the docs.
So he can download xp software after entering a 555 serial number?
Interesting, to say the least!
I can flash any software, the micro just stores the serial. It doesn't verify off the serial.
I'm not sure I understand that, isn't the software only availiable to dealers, that are supposed to download the software version that fits with the model in question?
As I understand by now, "all" you really have to do to make an xp saw out of a 555 is to install an xp top end and the crank stuffers (+ download the xp software, which I thought dealers were forbidden to do?) - but I guess the cost of those parts still will be higher than buying the xp in the first place would anyway?
Anyway, that is a lot of cost and work I guess, just for ending up with something that for practical purposes is a 560xp, and not a 562xp.
Simple tear down add crank stuffers, flash then update software and try to get you hands on the transfer covers (the hardest part).
My friend, I could sell 100 times more 560's than 562's.
Dealers have access to the software, they just need to know how to use it, and wear to find it.
I'm embarrassed that I can't see, in that pic, what caused the failure.
