I'm going to a GTG next weekend and iv been asked to run another members 5200 in the races. I've never raced a saw so was just looking for any tips that could make my first attempt not a total failure.

Its all in fun. Im going to have a good time it will be a new experience seeing as I just cut to heat the house.

It might not hurt to practice the transition from the down cut to the up cut a few times...

Practice and practice some more. Transitions are critical to success.

Don't stand too close to or too far away from the cant. Doing so would make cutting awkward.

Thank you all for the responses. @farmer steve sounds like you should let me make some practice hits when I stop up later this week. Iv got a 20" bar we can try on it so it doesn't have to pull the big bar.

The shorter the bar, the faster it'll cut. 16" is what I like for racing.
