Stihl are usually 1 turn out. But there are some that need more. 1 turn out is a good starting point.

If the saw carb you're working on has a L setting that likes 1 1/4 and you set it at 1 then it will likely start and die, or not start at all. There's more tolerance the other direction.
Some saw carbs are listed to be 3/4 turn, but that's very few.

The link in Brad's signature is better (you can actually SEE him tuning a saw) but this is a nice little "in the field" sheet for those who are not as familiar with the process.
