We have a long area behind our home on a busy street that needs trees planted. We would like a good noise barrier, fast growing, low maintenance tree. I was told that the Carolina Cherry Tree (is that the same as the Carolina Cherry Laurel) fits this bill and also, grows best with little water. Is this true? We live in Southern California where the soil is very clay-like. Thank you.
