chain/bar combo problem

I have a 3/8 .058 24 in bar total care
a 84 d/l 73lpx chain .058 3/8 pitch
I try to put on my makita dcs 6421 and the chain is like 2-3 drive links too long

According to the chart (Husqvarna) it shows 82 DL. I ran into the same issue for my Dolmar.

probably could have shortened to 80dl even, is still long but worked...

I just had mine shortened and had an additional loop made. I really like the Husqvarna H46 chain, seems smoother, and the shop had a reel of it.
