Chain question

I found a chain for my j red 28 bar that is 91 drivers I went and checked my chain and it says 72 will it still work.

If it is the same type of chain BUT you have to cut and re spin the rivets so the same amount of drive links 72. The 72 is for a 20 inch bar right?

If it had 72 stamped on the drive link that just indicates its a .050 guage chain.
You will need to verify the drive link count as well.

Aha I looked at it fast and thought he meant 72 drivers. So what exactly do you have there?

I believe it is 93dl, but wondering if 91 would fit.

Yep.. My 28" Stihl chains (91 DL) won't go on the Husq 28" bar (93 DL).

Need to machine some material out of the slot/groove. Or buy a new chain.

If the chain is in good condition you can also spin in additional links from a roll, or a donor chain.

Yep, 4x the pitch of the chain different.

I run 28" stihl and husky it's a real pain. Found if I spin 92dl and run'em on the stihl til they stretch the new out then run'em on both but not all bars are the same some are a tad tight. I'll probably look into slot grinding for a better match. And for the guy who is going to tell me to run stihl bars with an adapter the huskys are small mt. Ken

Both of my 28" bars are 93dls.
