Experts,

Is it alright to take the guide bar off and spray the grease and saw dust off of the side of the chainsaw with a water hose. And if not what is a good way to get that gunk off? Thank you very much in advance.

It is a good (essential?) idea to keep your chainsaw clean. While it looks nice it also allows you to check for anything loose or broken every time that you clean it. You do need to keep the bar slot, bar sprocket, oiler holes etc clear or you will have big problems. Personally I would remove the bar and scrape and wipe off as much gunk first before using compressed air just to minimize the mess I would make! You can get tools to scrape the bar slot, or use a thin piece of rectangular metal sheet.

it might be just me but I use windex for pine sap on my bar. Works great. I do clean after each session though
