Hey guys,
We just got a new bandit 1390xp chipper. None of us have ever worked with a winch before and the couple times we've used it we notice that it seems to pull the pieces under the chipper instead of up onto the door, we attach it as close to the butt end as is safe. What are we doing wrong?

Hey guys,

You aint lifting it up by hand slowly and carefully. Easy one!

Try winching slower, or maybe before the tree or limb goes under, pull it to the side while winching in.

Thanks for the suggestions, we currently do it slow and maneuver it by hand. I thought that was the wrong way. Figured we were doing it wrong if we have to do it like that. We only have problem with bigger pieces cal, the smaller ones winch right up without any intervention from us. Thanks again for the info.

That is the same type of chipper we use every day, and sometimes it is hit or miss with getting pieces stuck under it. You really just have to get used to it, feel the piece know how it is gonna move as in is it going to get hung up on a big ass rock, or another tree? Usually if you have a guy or two you can successfully maneuver even real big stuff right in there. Sometimes when it gets stuck under there just let it down some and have one guy rock it back and forth until its clear of the hopper and then blast it in there real quick. If that makes any sense at all I hope it helps.
