I'm modifying my Stihl 034 by transforming it into an 036. I have an 036 cylinder/piston kit ordered. I've already opened up the muffler and adjusted the carb while it was still an 034.

Before I install the 036 cylinder kit is there anything I could do to net some additional performance increase. I'm looking at some modest tweaks vs. major timing changes. (I'm not trying to turn this into a race saw).

There's an old thread suggesting using Loctite 518 vs. a cylinder gasket to gain a little additional compression. However would that hurt timing??

What about some modest machining of the cylinder or piston. Any suggestions?

I can also just install the 036 jug as is but I hate to pass up the opportunity if there's a couple additional things I can do while it's all taken apart.
