Does the wrong spark plug hurt your saw?

Well, this is a bit off the subject of saws, but as an outboard mechanic for several years now, I have found that pretty much all OMC's were designed to run with Champions. They even recemend them in their owners manuals. NJK has a cross reference version of the J6C and the thread shank is just a little bit long. As a result, the piston slams the gap shut.

Makes me wonder what the engineers were drinking THAT day.

now, what the hell makes you think engineers ever think things through? in my world no one would get to _be_ an engineer until they'd put a few years in the repair/maintenance trenches.

that would prevent travesties like ...

well.

that's what i thought.

but how can heat range be so radically different on such similar motors? do some 2strokes have higher compression and need a cooler plug?
