I understand they started using a lighter weight slab side piston somewhere along the way. Is there anyway to tell from part numbers if the P/C kit will be the new style piston?
The part number you mentioned is for the the new Makita EA7900 and theThanks for the info! I did come across part # 038-130-071 which I assumed was newer than the 070, but I can't find anything that shows the differences between the two other than price.
Are there any major differences between DCS7901 vs EA7900P ? It looks like the EA part number is a newer makita with decomp opposite the recoil side.
You’re welcome!I see. I actually bought a 7900 top end for a 6421 a year or two ago, and it had the decomp on the recoil side. I don't recall if it was slab or window piston, but was assuming that since the decomp matched the older saws it would also be the older style piston.
The reason I'm investigating this now is that my DCS64xx saws are multiplying. I now have three of them and starting to think that two of them are jealous of the one that has the 7900 top end. I just wanted to make sure whatever I buy will have the newer lighter piston.
Thanks for the help
