Dolmar 166 vs the 9010

I was just curious since the 166 is so hard to come by how much better is it than the 9010? can someone give me a comparo on the two???

i figured i would be getting that response and i believe it too but what im curious about is.... Is it worth the search vs just getting what is readily available? What are the specs on these 166s?

It depends what you are trying to do with it. Given the scarcity of the 166 and its parts, you'd probably want something else if you actually intend to use the thing for serious work.

Your chances of finding a running good condition 166 are less than finding a running good condition Jonsereds 111 and those are darn near impossible to find these days

166 = 118cc 80's big wood eating monster

9000/9010=90cc 90's not so big wood saw, a bit weighty compared to 066, and lacking in av and air filter compared to the husky offerings... a well made machine though, and nowt wrong with it for the price

Thank you guys for all your posts. Are parts as hard to come by as the saws themselves? also can you do many mods to the 9010 to help it out?

The PS9010 takes to porting and muffler mods real well.

What kinda power are we talkin for a decent porting job and muffler mod nothin too radical wanna keep it half way reliable.
