I just bought two Makita DCS520i chainsaws new in box but ten years old for a good price. These are blue dolmar 115i saw's which were replaced by the 540. The 520/115i saw's are real light and lots of power. I would say the 540 Dolmar should be compareable. I think the 540 is about 2cc bigger then the husky 355 rancher. someone correct me if Im wrong.

I guess thats a 55 rancher not 355. Looks like there some newer husky model's then that out there.Little less cc less weight but more power. 346xp husky

The dolmar ps-540 is one of the best power to weight ratio saws on the market. I have had good luck with them and we sell a bunch of them! The only complaint we ever here is they do leak some oil! But other than that it is a great performer!

wish I had bought mine years ago. With a 16 in bar and full chisel chain in a 16 in seasond osage orange it pulls it self tru or bear down and you dont hear the rpm's drop either. And feel good at the end ot the day. This is my Idea of a limbing saw but good for then a lot more then that.

Hi Tom, the Dolmar 540 is about 6 cc larger than the 028WB, about the same weight also. I had a Stihl 028 super and a Dolmar 115i which is 2 cc smaller than the 540, my Dolmar was more powerful than the 028 Super but both are great saws. The 540 should be a nice step up in performance for you, but I too would like to know the actual weight and hp numbers for these saws. I think the only advantage the Stihl has over the Dolmar is dealer support but that is slipping where I'm from. The box stores are driving the small shops out of business around here.

There is one little shop not far from me , but if anything
happens to him then what ? I found one place that works on Makita he said buy another Sthil , but then again he sells Sthil.

Thanks for the info. My friend is buying me a Echo CS-520
for doing work at his house. What do you guys think of this saw ?
He only has a card good at Home Depot so my choices were very slim. I could of got a Makita but NO PLACE TO SERVICE THEM.
There are plenty of Echo Dealers though. Do you think I made a smart choice ? It's going to take a week to get the saw.

Sure you don't mean an Echo CS-510? I have one, with the muffler dual ported it runs real strong. Good anti-vibe too!!!

If the coil on your Sihl 028WB is any good I might be interested in it. Don't toss it out.
From what I've read looks like the Husky 350s are hard to beat, but the Dolmar looks good and is a little lighter. Don't know which is better.

Im not for sure but I think some of the early 028WBs are 43cc. I had a service book from the library that showed the early AV and WB having 43cc then there was a note that said some later ones had 47cc. Im not sure does anyone know an easy way to tell? If your going by the Acres website, it list the WoodBoss as 47, but is this the early models? My028 with a 18" bar is about 16.25 pounds on my scales-pretty heavy. Im estimating a Husky 350 would be under 14 ( 3 lbs for a 18 B&C????).

I think that the Dolmar 115i is the same as the Makita DCS 5200i
