Difficult one chucker. I think it is on it's way to becoming the best saw ever made but still has a long road ahead. Only when it has started to be accepted by a heap of pros can we claim that.
If you put a heap of saws in a room and asked guys to run them all when they had never touched a chainsaw before you may find the 7900 is the most popular
The thing the 7900's have over nearly every other saw at the moment is that HD filter kit - it is awesome.

You know I love my 7900's mate (I have 3) but I tell you what, those 390XP's are an awesome saw as well (I have 2)...

True, true. I just figured I'd join the trend of best saw polls, lol. :)

when did they come out with the 7900s? to me the Best saw has to be bullit proof for years and years. I know loggers that will pass up the fastest cutting saw for one that will hold up over the years.

There is little doubt the 7900/681 is a great medium duty chainsaw, but if you want the best time proven chainsaws, look no farther than the 123cc McCullochs. Go big or go home to Mama.

Yo Randy, yellow and black is where it's at!

They need to come with the HD filter kit standard and make them prettier to be more widely accepted, then they will be a little closer to the title.

Al, you gotta run one bro.

Here's the DOLMAK version.

There have been so many "Great" saws over the years that i could never pick one as the greatest ever, but the 7900 has to be firmly in the top ten!!!

Mike

Never run one, but for the prupose of this poll, I went with the 681. Something about "factory big bore" sounded great bouncing around in my head.

Best ever... I dunno, but 797s really, really light things up... Kinda like firing up a nitro dragster, everyone in the zip code notices.

ABSOLUTELY!!!!!!!, and here's why; perfect combination of performance(power, av handeling), longevity, weight and price....Not to mention mod potential and ease of working on. There are saws out there that beat it in some categories, but none beat it in all
(and don't forget the Makita, I like it better than the 681, just because of the feel)

Just switch the AV springs around and you'll like that 681 a lot more. :)

It is not the best saw made. There is just no other saw that is better. :greenchainsaw:

With all the new EPA regulations I bet it stays the best for a long time.
