I think i have this right Thanks to Saw Troll and the newer Husky numbering system. Seems Echo was doing it all along. Now you will have to remember there are 3 different companies Kyoritsu 1947-1971, Kioritz '72-'78 and Echo Inc '78- There may be some over lap on the
'72, '78 because i don't know the Name change over months.

So the oldest Kyoritsu tagged CS-80's and CS-60S and the CS-100 will start with:
3 1963, 4 1964, 5 1965, 6 1966, 7 1967, 8 1968, 9 1969, 0 1970
10 1971.
Then Kioritz tagged will start with:
2 1972, 3 1973, 4 1974, 5 1975, 6 1976, 7 1977, 8 1978 maybe
Then Echo Inc tagged:
8 1978, 9 1979, 00 1980, 01 1981, 02 1982, 03 1983, 04 1984, 05 1985, 06 1986, 07 1987, 08 1988, 09 1989, and that where i get lost. But its a start...Bob

I have no saws after 1989 so someone will have to look at theirs. I have a few ,71's, 69's and 80's and '82 and '77 so i know those years are right because i bought some new...Bob

Intresting thread. I have a 452vl somewhere in its case. Ill have to look tomorrow.

Welcome to the Forum, I am down the road in Lexington and have a few Echo saws (some branded as John Deere). Would like to see your saws, there will be a GTG out in Murray at the end of September where we will B.S. and run some saws.

Reviving an old thread here but I have a question and can't find any more info on the forums. This dating method works for all my echo's, except the twins. I have now seen 5 cst-610 and 1 cst-600, all starting with 00. Did echo stop adding the year at the start on the twins? I can't believe they were all made in the same year! All kioritz tagged but the 600 has kioritz stickers on the case and the 610 have echo stickers. Any insight would be appreciated, thank you.

Here is yet another thread revival.

I am getting this CS302S wiped down and ready to sell. Am I correct in concluding that it was made in 1973 (S/N 0035494?)

The saw belonged to my collector-restorer neighbor, Malcolm (Mac) McGilvray, Jr – 10/10/31 – 3/25/04. It was the 'go-t0' saw he carried in the box on the back of his truck. He wanted to be ready to cut up a downed tree blocking the highway when and if he encountered it. I know of at least one instance when he single-handedly reopened CA 17 between San Jose and Santa Cruz. Here's an image with an 18" bar installed.

I last had it running around 10 years ago and it started on the first pull. It is 'functional but incomplete.' What should I ask for it?

thanks,
baumgrenze

This thread deals with antique ECHO saws; does anyone have any data to share re: something current? DOM 2020?
