Yep, wtf is wrong with cash? Says right on it, "legal tender". Simple, especially for a dumb treeguy like me.

Yup just did it on friday. The guy looked at me funny when I pulled out 9 big ones. Love that saw. Almost cried though when I found out I paid 56$ in taxes. I was pissed.

Feel better dude here in the lefty socialistic country of Kalifornia the sales tax would have been $90!!! Ten percent now here......
I love the weather, the motorcycle riding territory, the good looking women but having to put up with Barbara Boxer, Diane Feinstein, Nancy Pelosi and the rest of bleeding heart liberals here is torture.

I bet the liberals are a real pain. Its bad enough here in NE Ohio. My step father works out there usually Anaheim area in the winter when theres too much snow here and he says its just ridiculous with taxes and liberal propaganda. Don't mean to start political discussions here but theres a great article in last months NRA magazine 'America's First Freedom' that was titled something like "As goes California, so goes the Nation". Something like that but its a good article. Again, I dont want to start any political war here, just commenting on the last post, particularly pertaining to the socialistic type tax rates.

You're preaching to the choir-----:(

i am just suprised that chainsaws haven't been banned entirely by the social elites in power. chainsaws pollute the air, cut down trees and you can cut someone with one! a perfect target for some liberal law school type to go on crusade against.:greenchainsaw:

yep. Here at the tech center i go to they are "illegal" but since im in good with the bosses i can run around the halls with them and not get in trouble. course i dont but i could.

walk in know what you want you have 900 or so cash in hand pay in cash walk out. ever get funny looks?

ps. this is just for humorous discussion.

Depends on which saw. If you plunked down 9 Ben's on an MS211, then yes you would have gotten funny (albeit, appreciative) looks from the dealer.

I used to do a lot of this. Always caught hell for keeping a few crisp C's stashed in my wallet. I got the "what if you lose your wallet?" nag. Nowadays I regret to say I use plastic most of the time. Easier to track. We never carry a balance so it's just a convenience thing. Save the cash for the gun purchases...

Some times I feel sorry for small merchants though and pay cash to avoid teh 3% B.S.

got my ms390 for 5 bills....

got some nice goodies with it too....and it had the 20" bar. Cash can do funny things when you lay it on the counter...

If the merchant charged plastic customers 3% more I bet they'd see a lot more cash customers. I'm sure the have the 3% figured into their price so I guess they should give the cash customers a 3% discount.

I think there is a law that says they can't charge more for credit purchases, but I think they can give a cash discount. One of those strange things. Anyone know for sure?

I've put down cash for several purchases and they do look at you kind of funny. I like being paid in cash myself and so I do it when I can.

I've been asked if I was worried about "being robbed" carrying so much money. I alway say "The only worrying in that situation will be on the part of the robber."

Few years ago, I was working at a company that did a lot of selling by mail order and phone order. We took credit cards for that, naturally, and the owner began a two-tiered pricing, couple percent higher price if credit card. Our accountant pointed out that it violated a fed. law, you cannot charge more to a customer who proffers a card instead of cash or check. Owner didn't believe it, checked it out and found it the accountant was correct. Unless that has changed, by law, in the past ten years or so it is illegal.

That being said, I know of several businesses, couple I buy stuff at, that do charge more for credit card purchases. I guess no one has complained to anyone in official capacity.

What people do is just raise all their prices by that 3% or whatever it is and everyone pays more. That is legal. [Far as I know, anyhow.]

What kinda bugs me is the store or vendor that won't take cash. I have run into that a few times. I mean, no cash???? I handed a guy 5-20s for a $95 purchase and he refused to sell me the stuff, said he would only take credit cards, no cash, no checks. I understand maybe he didn't want cash around, didn't want to bother with NSF checks or something. But, come on, no cash? I said, politely now, "You mean, you'll let me walk out of here without that thing rather than take a hundred bucks CASH?" He said, yep, and I did walk away.

Oh, well.

Pretty sure I've seen gas stations with a cheaper price/gallon for cash customers.

I've had customers peel off C-notes by the thousands before. One thing I learned is don't deposit over $10k in cash.
