I wase handed a box of parts person that gaveit to me sed all parts are their exept rubber bushings it is a stihl 012 av so witch way does the piston face and can this saw be ported sinse its apart

the arrow always goes towards exhaust (muffler) and yes it should be ported while it's apart so you can clean out any chips/shavings. my question is why is it apart in the first place?
