Buy a 40 # sack of wood pellets, for a pellet stove.
Get a gallon can, (coffee can is good), and fill with pellets. Pour a cup of kerosene, (diesel would work) over it. Get a tuna can for a dipper or scoop.
Set your logs in your stove. Put a scoop of kerosene pellets by the draft, and put a small piece of paper on top the pellets, with one end buried in the pellets. Light the paper. It's near instant fire.
It works well, because the moisture content of the pellets is very low. Good for older folks, damp days, and situations where you are tired.
Handy for older folks.
