Can anyone identify manufacturer and/or date of the fireplace tools in the pics?
I got them for Christmas from my father-in-law and he says they were left in the old farmhouse they lived in during the early 70's. He thinks they may have been there for quite some time prior to that (I much, MUCH prefer this kind of gift versus "brand new" from Walmart.) The base and the handles appear to be cast, maybe even some type of white metal. There is a hex bolt holding the base to the stand so that may be some indication of age. The tongs have unique claw feet. The base has a "500B" cast in the bottom and the stand is stamped "730" on the back of the Boy Scout type design on the top. Anyone ever own a similar set?
