Scored 3 pickup loads of free red maple from one of my wifes clients weekend. Then as I was leaving he showed me another pile about the same size of white birch and some black birch. I gotta go back and get that next week. Its only about 5 miles from my house. All the wood was left over from December Ice storm, they just wanted to get rid of it. I'll add to my ever growing stockpile. I have 5 1/2 cords stacked and at least that much more to cut and split.

After I got home, my neighbor came over and asked me if I wanted to use his splitter. Its a home made one but gets the job done. I have been splitting everything by hand w/ super splitter, but throwing aside the knarlier stuff in hopes I can get a splitter. This will do for now as he says I can hang onto it for a week or so.

nice score. I showed my wife your pictures of your wood pile -she said "that is ridiculous" -I think you have a good supply of wood and understand your obsession with firewood.keep cutting.

Ditto over here on the other side of the Salmon Falls River. As I was sitting in the dark last Dec. loading the woodstove, I knew there'd be a windfall - errr - icefall of wood waiting for me once the snow receded.

That's a lot of wood...

All I can say is...Remember to replace the word "Indian" with "peterc38"...

redbug--guys property next to mine--a large drive area--which i keep up--said one day. Going to be a damn cold winter!!!! i said, how so??? hes said, by the amount of wood you have stacked and split!!!! he also called my stack------"designer wood"-----because of neatness of stacks--and length--:dizzy:

Firewood warms you up 3 times over...cutting it, stacking it, and burning it in the stove.

Olyman...better watch your neighbor...he's mouthwatering over your stash!!!....

I would enjoy hand splitting more if A-hole neighbors weren't always peeping out their winders @ me. My back is currently sore from stacking unsplit logs most of the day. Probably just doubling my work to do again later when I have time to split. But at least in the meantime it's not sitting on dirt and soaking up water like a sponge. It might even DRY A LITTLE?
