I acquired this somewhat used 242, had a scorched piston on exhaust side. cleaned up cylinder and put in a new am piston, and rebuilt the carb. Has spark but I cannot get it to start, even with priming it a few times. Will probably sell it on ebay as a non running saw. Don't know what to do to make it start, at this moment, I wonder if it's floodedIMG_0931.jpegIMG_0939.jpegIMG_0938.jpeg

Check the new piston dimentions against the old one.particularly the length between crankpin and piston crown.

I gave it one last pull today ( before posting it on ebay as a non runner)and it tried to start! I'm convinced I had it flooded. I messed around with the mixture setting. leaned em out a fair bit, and it's running decently! I'm absolutely terrible at adjusting a carb, have a tach, my ears do me no good cuz I've lost much of my hearing.....
