Hi,

I´m looking for an high-quality Allroundsaw about 4hp.
After reading a lot I thing the Dolmar PS 5100-S would fit fine.

I just wonder why the price of this chainsaw is in US ~400 Dollar.
In Germany the PS 5000 ("just" 13.500 rpm) is ~700Euro=> 925 Dollar! :jawdrop:

I'm headed to Germany in a week and was hoping prices were cheaper there, after all they do make'm or at least thats were they started from. I guess i may not get another saw or parts cheaper than here in Canada. "Man, this sucks"!!! :censored:

HA! If you thought German stuff in the US was expensive, try buying German stuff in Germany.

The exception is cars. They have to have a good tax break (I forget to ask, each time i'm there) because 95% of the cars are new german ones.

because 95% of the cars are new german ones.

In our region many workers are employed by "Daimler/Mercedes Benz".
They have the opportunity to buy "one jear cars" at special conditions directly from the company.
This cars have to be sold after 12 Months. The government gets about 30% taxes out of the difference between this "special price" to the list-price.
It is quite common to by such "one-jear-cars".

On the other hand many people are willing to pay more for a german car, in the sake of lokal-patriotism.
In the regions where many people are employed by car-companies, it´s a bit like a moral principle to buy a german car. The people in this regions are a bit proud of their car-producing companies and they are also rewarding the high payments they benefit from.

But not every german is a car-fetishist. Today I have been driving my Audi for over 10 Jears (105.000mi)...

Greetings,
Dirk

Yep, kind of like how people who live near Detroit buy Chevy & Ford...

Just getting that Audi broken in, I see... :)

I own 4 right now... :givebeer:

My daily driver is an 88 90Q with almost 200,00 miles. I only need one more year out of this car...

Now this thread turned into a exercise on Social studies!

This thread is about why saws cost more in Europe. socialism is why, too bad we are headed that way. Steve

80% of all savings world-wide is spent on covering the US deficit....

Swedish Taxes Are ?

80% of all savings world-wide is spent on covering the US deficit....

And the average Swede gives how much income to the state ?
And, how many Swedes immigrate here to live and work and retire ?
And where in the H did you get that statistic ? :spam:
And, how is the Swedish government changing a system that is not working ?
We are getting into some serious discussion here. Intelligence is acceptable, but statistics that come out of left field ( N. American expression here Sven) Welllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll............
Hey, BTW: how much is a litre of petrol in Sweden ? A bottle of beer ? A Stihl MS441 ?

Hey guys. After the first of the year I am going to The UK via France or the Netherlands. I'd be happy to tote a couple of saws with me for a fee.

We are going to Manchester to pick up a pup, but don't want to deal with the quarentine, so.....................................
