OK, Fish.....I'm gonna take a stab at this one myself!

Nasty, dirty and obviously broken recoil.

Gonna take the recoil assy off my other 028 and test for spark & compression.

Time to see if I got lucky....nah not possible.

Pull several times....nothing......
Take off air cleaner and give it a squirt of mix.....
Roars to life.....and dies...
Three more times......same results...
Hmmm....guess I'm gonna try my hand at a carb rebuild....

BUT WAIT......Did I put any fuel in after I dumped it that last time?????

DUH.....Put in a half tank....two pulls and....runs... and runs....and idles.

Life is GOOD!

Now, let's see how she cleans up.

Carb settings were way out (rich) Set it about 12,500.

Ordered a new gas cap (leaks) fuel filter, air filter and and recoil parts and I think that's all she needs. :)

Now what am I gonna do with 3 028's?

Those green warning stickers on the handguard/chainbrake and the clear plastic over the 028 label just refuse to give up the ghost on the 028's My stickers etc look like new even after laying in the barn for years and from pressure washing the chicken crap off it........If its any indication of how the rest of the saw is built the saw will be destined to last for ever.

The only thing better than a free saw, is a free saw that runs! Good find, Good job!
