Just went to the local flea market and saw a husqvarna 372xp sitting there. I happened to have my husqvarna 350 in the truck so I asked the fella if he would trade my 350 and $100 bucks for the 372xp.... yep, got it.

I'm stoked, he seemed happy too, he wasn't asking much for the 372xp $225 for it but all I had was $100 bucks. Hated to spend all my money, but couldn't pass up that deal. Brought it home and man that thing is a beast. He was a pretty old guy who said he couldn't handle the 372xp anymore, so he liked the light 350 with compression release. I made sure that he knew what he was doing (I'm not a person who would rip someone off just because they don't know what they have) but he knew what the 372xp was and he knew what the 350 was. So I've got a clear conscience and a wicked bad saw on the cheap. I haven't tested the compression yet, but it's hard as hell to pull and cuts like a champ so I'm sure it's passable anyhow, plus this one is worth fixing when it breaks...

Now I've just got to get a case that the saw will fit into and a new chain, this one has been sharpened to death...

thanks guys, I'm stoked, went out and cut some logs I brought home this week for firewood. Got some white oak (i think) that's about 20 inch diameter, it didn't even slow down, flipped one up and ripped it in half easier than I can split it... I'm gonna have fun with this thing...

question for anyone who knows... I have a 268 on layaway at the pawn shop, got it for $250. I still owe $200 on it, I only need one big saw though, I can't justify keeping them both. I think I know the answer here, but as far as how long the saw will last which one should I keep?

Ima HUGE fan of the 268 but that 372 has got alotta more snot.I would keep both,but if you gotta get rid of one PM me on that 268.

You did good!


If it starts, runs and cuts good don't worry about the compression test.
After checking compression on my saws for while, getting one reading
one day and as much as 20lbs diff the next day. Buying new guage
and farting around I don't worry bout compression to much any more
on my saws. But I would have to test it myself

From what I have found, the colder the saw the better it will check.
I even kept a log for a while, a saw on 30 deg day will check much better
than on a 80 deg day.

no doubt I came out on top there. Don't get me wrong though, I do like the little 350. For what I do it was fine, but I wanted a saw worth fixing so I got a husqvarna 55 (not the rancher) at the pawn shop, that was when I put the 268 on layaway. Today I found the 372xp so I couldn't go past without asking the price... Glad I was able to end up with it.

I encounter on occasion here on the farm things that need a little bigger saw than the 50cc range of saws. I forsee a 24inch bar/chain combo for the 372xp, keep the 18 on my 55 for most of my use. The 372 will be a garage queen I think, just one to bring out when it's needed. The 55 cuts great and is light enough to not wear me out.
