So I bought the red ring compression kit. I can get the first ring to slide in but it keeps hanging up on the 2nd ring and won’t go in. Any tricks to this??

I like zip ties.I find it easier to use my fingers than a ring compressor.
They work good too.I like zip ties.
I start from the back of the ring first, make sure that is in the slot, and then bring the front sides around and in. You have to be careful. It's easy to snap the ring in half, but it's been awhile since I did that -- about six years. I do not own a ring compressor. Patience is next to godliness.Keep that ring compressor tight to the cylinder as you press the piston in. Sounds like it might be lifted just enough to allow the ring to slip into the gap between the two and expand. Keep trying - you'll get it.
Yep, Buzz, you are right. My error. Getting that second ring in is always a little bit of a challenge. I've often wished I had three hands.I thought the problem was getting the piston into the cylinder. Sometimes it just takes a little finesse and patience.
^Both of the rings are on the piston and the piston is attached to the rod. I’ve been trying to slide the cyl down over the piston. The top ring slides in fine, then when it reaches the second ring, it slides partly over the ring, the skirts are over the ring about 1/16 but you can still see the ring where the skirting isn’t at. And it won’t go in any further. I finally gave up after 2 hours of trying to get it all the way on. Will try again tomorrow when I’m not so frustrated
Is the bottom ring upside down?
