If there's no excess fuel on the plug, it's not flooded
The coil isn't hitting or anything loose in the starter side, we can eliminate the FW side
The chain spins freely with the saw shut off...not the clutch

I think it's time to pull the cylinder and look for UFO's.

As Jacob says as such there are no screws actually inside the crankcase to come loose to cause the issue. The other possibility which I could see is if a longer bolt was used somewhere like on the oil pump mounting which would then have excess showing in the crankcase, caught the side of the crank and snapped off but it would have fouled from the start.
There's one short screw on the manifold that could get into the intake tract if it were to come loose. I believe it was that screw that caused all this.
 
Looks too big for that particular screw....looks more like a cylinder base screw sze impression.

might have rolled when it caught though and made the divot look bigger...
