In the process of trying to understand how the modifications to my saw were going to help create more power I wanted to learn how the engine works. These videos helped a great deal and explained a lot such as why the transfer covers were called transfer covers. This took a lot of the mystery out of the engine for me and helps me understand a lot of the troubleshooting steps that I've read on here.

These don't really show the carb or crank interaction much but do a good job of showing how the intake, exhaust, and piston/cylinder work.

Hope these help.

This one the commentary is a little unorganized buy has actual hard parts to show you where this stuff is and what's going on.

For those who like to read, and want some real "meat & potatoes" try Paul Dempsey's book "2-Stroke Engine Repair and Maintenance."

Very cool. Time to take the learning to the next level. Thanks for the references and the link. I'll be reading up with a snack on hand.
