By the way, the top line is 372XP, then 955-70123-00, then 00140053. The number tag is scarred up some so the numbers might be off a little. Bought as a parts saw so it's gonna need about everything..
Google “how to read husky serial numbers” their website has a section on it that will key you in. If I remember right your saw would be built in 2000 and of the epa variant.
It appears mine was made in Sweden in 2000. It doesn't have a cat muffler so I'm guessing it isn't an epa version. I'll check the piston tomorrow, I understand the EPA is a 2 ring piston whereas the plain 372 isn't.
I checked the piston on the saw and it has 2 thin rings, now I'm confused...I may end up ordering a piston and cylinder kit but am unsure about it. Seems most are 50mm.
IIRC all of the 372xp’s had 2 rings. I may have this backwards, but either the very early 372xp’s were single ring just like the 371xp’s, or the very late 371xp’s had 2 rings.
You can still find a single ring piston for the 50mm bore from Husky. I got one ~4 months ago from my dealer for a 371xp project.
