Seller says it's 72cc and a model 72. Is this a 272? Do these have internal clutch? What's it worth? Has a new looking 24" husqvarna bar.

I am no Husky expert, but I believe the 272 had air injection and a plastic brake flag. The starter cover looks like it is off an older CD saw.

I Couldn't find any pictures of a 272 that liked like it. Sorry for the poor image quality, that's all I have.

Actually the 272 did not have air injection. Early models might have had the metal brake flag but most I've seen were plastic. It could also be a 266/268, those are very similar as well but if he says it's a 72 and he's honest then it's a 272xp. Might have had a 272 top end swapped on also.

It will have an outboard clutch regardless though.
If it's all original, 268. I've never seen a 272 with a metal flag.

By zooming in on the tag I see a 66 and part of a se. I'm guessing 266se?
Could he check by the ignition on the saw? 266s have a 2 part ignition system do they not?

The " 66" on the tag makes me think 266se. I wonder if the top cover bolts are lining up.
The shiny but decal-less top cover could be aftermarket. And I've never seen black spikes.

Well I'm looking for a larger power head for my Lewis winch, or for my Alaska mill. Outboard clutch is a deal breaker for the winch. I have a super xl on the winch now.
I'm putting a 372 top end on my 365, I could swap that between the winch and mill.
He's asking $325 for the mystery saw.

Are you having trouble with the SXL on the winch.? I have a near new one on a Lewis

The 272 never had a silver ID tag since these were not being used after 1987 and the 272 came out in the early 90's.

I think the word "type" in front of the 66 wouldn't be so close if it were 266. It's probably an original 66.

The top cover looks like a 268 or 272, but the number plate on the case is not from a saw that late.
It actually looks like it is from one of the elusive 166 SE saws, that some sourses say was made 1978 - 1981 or so?
