I have a 5.5hp B&S motor on my wood splitter with an 11gpm 2 stage pump. Right now it appears that the fast side of the pump doesn't work, It stays at the same slow speed all the time.

Could the motor not be big enough to run the pump?

Could the hydraulic system be too cold to run properly, even in the middle of the summer?

Could the pump be burnt up?
If so can they be rebuilt or does it need to be replaced?

any information would be helpful
Thanks
Sam

Put a pressure gauge on pumps output line and check that pressure. These pumps switch to slow speed at a certain pressure....like about 900psi....if something is wrong in your system and you have that 900 psi all the time....pump wont go to high speed....If pressure is lower than 900psi, it can be adjusted on the pump....
