Impressed with Husky 261

[Big Red Oaks 4 me]

I had posted here about a month ago that I had bought a 365 Special and a 261, and both ran good. I put a new chain on the 261 and cut some red oak this morning with it. Wow! It didn't bog down any. I have a 562 that cuts great, but performance-wise, I'm not sure there's much difference. I plan on giving the 365 a test run in a couple of days. For some reason, I much prefer the Huskys to the Stihls, but I'm not going to bash the brand. To each his own.

I agree about the 261 being a stout little saw. I bought a used one from a guy in Florida on this site. I got the regular carb, non-MTronic version. I like it a lot.

Reading is fundamental and I have failed. I saw 261 and ASSumed MS261...my bad.

Not a problem. Too many models and numbers out there. It's hard to keep up with all of them!

just wait till ya run a 262 with the right jug on it!

Change the piston out with the 262 piston and open the muffler up and hold on. Muffler, clutch , piston are the only differences between 261 and 262xp
