I'm getting ready to start my second year of wood-burning so I figured now was a good time to clean the chimney liner before it got too cold. Can any of you seasoned wood burners/chimney cleaners tell me if I got my liner clean enough? The pipe was installed last year and I burned nearly every day from late October to May. After three passes with my 6" round Rutland brush, this is what my pipe looked like. The pictures were taken in succession after each pass (but I think I uploaded them in reverse order). I brushed from top to bottom. Anyone out there say brushing in one direction is better than the other? All in all, I got about a cup and a half of soot.

It is fine.
Dry powdery brownish light stuff is OK. Be worried if you get heavy black accumulations or shiny glazed stuff.
