hello, we had high winds here in pa. last year and 2 out of 3 cluster birch i planted broke off half way up.they were all 8 ft in cluster before this.now i have 2 at 4 ft and 1 at 8 ft in cluster.can i prune whats left off and start a leader from a side limb or is it better i dig this one up and put somewhere else in my yard and go and buy another one as this is where everyone can see it and i have another that is on corner of my new home.thanks

Maybe. Impossigble to advise without a picture; please post one.

dont know how to do that.on a young tree birch would it make sense to put up a wind barrier in winter to try to keep the main leaders from breaking off.also if i prune it above the break as you say will tree grow ok or am i better digging it up and replanting elsewhere and getting new one.its about 8 ft high cluster of 3 .
