You can still buy them new. I think they're around $80, at least they were when I bought mine. It's gone now, though.

They still make them for the 2172 which I have they are different supposedly the 2172 has a taller cylinder than the 2171. How big of bar did your ported 2172 pull

I had a 2171 and a 2712 and the same handle fit on both saws.
