I have seen references to "sawlog auctions" where a guy would collect a bunch of sawlogs, then auction them to the highest bidder. The most recent reference to this seemed to be a private individual who was harvesting and then selling by auction.
Anyone have any experience with log auctions or how to go about organizing one?
I harvest hardwood timber 1-2 times per month and haul to a local mill, but am never sure if I am getting the best price. It would seem that an auction could be an ideal way to sell and insure getting top dollar for the wood.
Any thoughts?
