Just found one locally on craigslist and it looks to be in great shape, original box and all.

What is it worth??

No, I'm not interested in it at that price, but I thought someone here might be.

$2500 seems a bit high but the model 5 is a very rare bird and one in military trim is even rarer. The story goes that Mall made a few of the model 5 for the military to try out when they were competing for war time contracts with Disston for transportable gas-powered saws. Disston ended up winning the contract with the KB6AX? and made oodles of war time loot. Bill G. or sawbones probably can shed more light on that- I've only heard bits and pieces.

I feel you are close but it is my belief the Mall 5 was the later version of the Model 4 that was made for the military contract.

They have had that C-list for a while. I think that would be neat to have but way out of my price range.
