Mayten tree - will this make good firewood

The city is going to take down a 32 year old Maten tree (maytenus boaria), pending approval in a few days, and are willing to leave the wood.

Is this tree likely to make good firewood?
 
IMO... If the wood is going to be left right at your house then yes, it is good firewood. Even if it is crappy firewood, the fact that you have to do very little work for it makes it good. I have said many times that I don't consider BTU/cord as strongly as I do BTU/unit of work I have to put into the wood.
 
burn it.
"If it burns it'll give ya heat" so says the girlfriend's grandpa. Last time we visited him he was going to through his old telephone in the wood furnace because it was broke and he figured it would burn. Hes an old WWII vet that thinks that "thinking green" is nonsense and the world is already too far gone to fix anything. Gotta love'em
