I've got some moldy firewood I'm concerned about stacking with other wood, to be seasoned and used next year. Will that mold spread to other wood? Think it's OK to stack for a year? It would be stacked in an outdoor, airy wood shed.

Looks like lichens and moss. Don't worry about it.

Even if it was mold, chances are, if it's in the wind and out of the rain, the mold will die. (Splitting the wood to make it dry faster helps.)

Some woods will rot, even if they're up off the ground, if you don't split the logs. This often happens with wood that was cut in the spring, when the cambium is full of sugars that are on their way from the roots to the buds. I always split it before stacking it.

I've had some punky wood at a good price cut and split and it dries out fine. Burns quicker but it's good heat. Only bad wood is birch if it's to wet.
