MS390 on .325 ?

Has anybody set up an MS390 with an 8 pin .325 ? I see no reason why you couldn't, since Stihl sets up 290's that way if thats what you want. I wonder what difference it would make and if it would hurt the saw ?

no problem with the saw in soft wood,but you should do a muff mod and not over 16"bar or else you need porting on P/C

A MS 390 is fine with a 20 B&C. Most use 3/8 on a saw of that size. You're not going to hurt the saw running .325 though. A MM will make a very noticeable improvement on that saw.

Brad can you describe the muffler mod ? Is it just drilling some holes, removing spark arrester, how simple is it ? I thought it made sense to go .325, pull a smaller chip, maybe wake up the potential in the saw without spending much ?
