MTD 31 Ton splitter

I have a coworker that has offered me one for $600, is this a decent splitter at a reasonable price?

Would depend on the condition, If it's decent i would buy it. Check for leaky hoses and make sure the engine is in good shape. Try it out and see if it works properly, sounds like a good deal to me.

look carefully for leaks on retract when the ...

beam is vertical. It would occur where the valve scews onto the cylinder. Good luck.

Absolutely a great deal if it's it's running well. As the guys said check the hydraulics out on it first and foemost. Then the engine, but engines are relatively cheap these days so factor that too.

Thanks for the advice. I went out and picked it up yesterday. Did not see any evidence of hydralic leaks just a little oil film on the engine. we agreed on a price of 400.Im trying to find a IPL and owner manual but am not having any luck, model 245-638-000 .there a few minor repairs that need to be done cut off switch and the recoil starter does not catch some times.
