Stihl has ad plenty of time to de-bug this stuff.

One would think so. That is why they are on version 3 of the M-tronic. Eache version gets new code and the opportunity for new bugs to be inserted and later surface.

OT , but, has anyone tried any of the aftermarket coils on the non-MT 261s?
couldn‘t fine squat via search.

I have used a couple of aftermarket coils before that worked ok. Can’t remember for sure if was for Stihl or Husky.

I have one on one of my 346s and it works fine. Haven't had to replace one on any of my Stihl saws.

I regularly run a 362 v1 and 462 v2 from 7k-8.5k all stock outside a muffler mod. Runs great outside been having a gas boiling issue this past week with heat in the 90*s
