Idle may be a bit high, the rest sounds reasonable.Tach it to make sure.

Thanks Stihlman, I will play with it some more tomorrow.

I dont have a tach. The shop I bought the saw from said they would run it for me if I brought it in. They just dont have any wood at the shop so I wanted to get it as close as I could before bringing it in.

You are fast mowoodchopper. After I typed it, it made more sense I guess. Thanks for your help. I will post another video tomorrow.

Yeh  slow the idle and should be good. Keep listening everytime you run, by the time its perfect you will be doing some other mod.. :hmm3grin2orange:

...and since you _will_ be doing other mods and general tweaking (and soon you find yourself with a second, and fourth, and sixth saw), you should get yourself a tachometer. Amazon sells a decent digital tach for ~$50 (search for 328 EZ Tach).

Great saw.

I'm glad i found this site and thread, I built a 460 from parts, many new, and put on a big bore kit and a dual port muffler that lasted about 2 tanks before it blew, went back to the standard 52mm kit and blew that up also, I'm now awaiting on my new piston to do the third rebuild. both times the piston busted at the exhaust port but the second time the cylinder was unharmed.

I never removed and modified the plastic stops on the H and L screws and that's what done me in. this go around i have opened up the exhaust port on the front cover, the muffler is the one baileys sells that has the little holes on the sides and bottom of the baffle.

would it be better to drill a hole in the front of that baffle or just take it off? I kinda want to leave it on and just drill a hole.

Also, would it be better to remove and cut the plastic stops on both the H and L or just pull the H off and open the screw a 1/2 turn then put the stop back on as one member suggested?

Thanks for your replies.
