Great... my repair bill went from $230 to $16.33. I just ordered the ring and gaskets from Bailey's. :biggrinbounce2: Now to polish the piston a bit.

thanks,
Ian

Moment of Truth

Put it back together today.. minus 1 handle screw... who knows where that went... Compression before ring change = 90lbs, after = 138lbs. Hopefully it will go up as the new ring breaks in to the probably out-of-round cylinder. Put a half teaspoon of gas in the cylinder, pull the choke, say a short prayer to the chainsaw gods and pull the rope. fired on the second pull, started on the third. I let it idle for a minute or so, basking in the glory of my creation  Then I shut her down. I'll take it in to work tomorrow and get a friend of mine to tune it up. Incidentally, the carb is still "child proof" so maybe I didn't kill it playing with the carb.

I'm a happy camper.
Ian
