Nice video. What is your saw while up in the tree?

Yeh the original video was 7 minutes long. I edited out all the throwbag chucking, rope ascending, and other boring stuff that takes me soo long to do because I'm not near as efficient at this kind of work like an arborist would be and I'm trying to make the transition from Rock Climbing gear to Tree gear still. This is more or less practice.

I realize now I placed this thread in the wrong section. I should have placed it in Tree Care Videos...OOPS. If any moderators wanna move it please

Very nice video. I mean no disrerpect at all but why did you take the tree down like that? Was it just to make the video. It sure looks like a simple drop. I am wondering why it was brought down the way it was. I am sure I missed something somewhere.

Bill, no disrespect taken whatsoever. To answer your question: The first two clips in the vid were necessary, however the blocking down portion was unnessecary. I am trying to make the transition from Rockclimbing to tree-climbing, as everyone I know all my life has constantly asked me to do roped-tree work because everyone knows I'm a rock climber. After years and years of being totally naive about Arborism, I've finally put forth a conscience effort to inform, educate, and practice with proper gear and proper techniques. This video was more or less an outing that my friend and I had to take advantage of some new gear and to do some rather typical takedown situations because I believe the more I do it, the more efficient I'll become. What is not shown in the video however is 2 barns and a lighted walk around a small pond that would have made falling this tree natural to it's heavy side a bad idea.

Yep. Stubs. Stubs are bad. Real bad.:jawdrop:

That combined with the hanging in the other tree can put a top in your lap.
If it hangs, it puts a lot of back preasure on the stem you are on, not to mention the shock if it impacts while dropping.

Another classic move when topping a tree is to have the butt release and the top get thrown back at you by another tree. Really watch the surrounding trees.

Rock on Bro .

I always wondered how you'd do that - actually taking the top out of a tree while you're up it - the potential for mischief is self-evident. how do you avoid getting speared, thumped or pulled off the tree by it?

Looks good, kool video! I like the music, a longer guitar solo would have been nice.<a href='http://www.mysmiley.net/free-angel-smileys.php' title='angel smileys'><img src='http://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/party/party0007.gif' alt='angel smileys' border='0'></a>

I'd like to try climbing myself.:chainsaw:
